Abstract
The expression of homeobox genes was studied by attaching a reporter gene on Hox8. The Hox8 gene was then transferred into mice embryos where it was allowed to express its function in regulating the differentiation of embryonic cells. Embryos stained to show the location of homeobox genes determined the activity of Hox8 in the formation of the neural tube. In addition, regulators of Hox8 were located at 11 and 19 kilobases away from the gene.
