Abstract
Research has been conducted on cytochrome c His26Tyr and His33Tyr mutants. The authors have investigated the structural and functional properties of these mutants under physiological-like conditions in the effort to understand the role of His26-Glu44 hydrogen bond in native protein's rigid tertiary conformation stabilization, and to determine whether the lack of this hydrogen bond will force the protein to assume the molten globule-like structure at neutral pH.
