Abstract
Spectroscopic measurements were done to examine the competition between the electron and energy transfer in fac-(Re(super I)(dppz)-(CO)3(py-PTZ))(super +), where dppz is dipyrido(3,2-a:2'3'-c)phenazine. It has been observed that bands rise on the low energy side of the absorption manifold due to the overlapping metal-to-ligand charge transfer and pi-->pi(super *) transitions. It has also been noted that the pipi(super *) state is the minor product in the competition.
