Abstract
The sequence dependence of the initial one-electron oxidation of guanine is compared by using the bulky aromatic radical cation of the pyrene derivative, 7,8,9,10-tetrahydroxytetrahydrobenzo[a]pyrene (BPT). The oxidation rates and distributions of oxidized guanine end-products are compared with those produced by [C[O.sub.3].sup..-] radicals.
