Abstract
The Cerenkov-type second-harmonic generation (CSHG) using KNbO3 channel waveguides formed by MeV He+ implantation is discussed. Lateral-resonance enhancement of the second-harmonic field in KNbO3 channel waveguides increases the conversion efficiency to about 30% W-cm. The theoretical approximations of the field distributions of the fundamental and the Cerenkov-radiation modes in embedded-channel guides provide information on CSHG efficiency.
