Abstract
The redevelopment of the East Thames Corridor is an important opportunity with the benefits of such a scheme outweighing the problems and constraints in the area. A development plan must be based on innovative ideas and an outgoing approach to creating partnerships between the public and private sectors. The precedents for this approach are the development of Lyon and Lille in France. In the East Thames area, Kent County Council is already demonstrating its progressive and ambitious attitude to redevelopment.
