Abstract
p53 mediated apoptosis and growth arrest are not the only means by which colonic murine epithelial cells guard against mutation after DNA damage. The endogenous p73alpha was translocated to the nucleus in response to DNA damage in primary murine colonocytes, which suggests a functional proapoptotic role for p73alpha in p53 deficient cells.
