Abstract
An improved synthesis of 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-5-methyl-4'-thioarabinouridine is described. Conformational analysis of 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-5-methyl-4'-thioarabinouridine showed that it adopted north and south conformations with a 77% preference for the north, this is in sharp contrast to the southeast conformer that dominates the conformational equilibrium of its 4'-oxygen congener.
