Abstract
Over recent decades, great steps have been taken to study the shape-memory polymer nanocomposites and their valuable applications by researchers. Considering the unique and distinguished applications of these materials and based on the fact that polyurethane is one of the most important shape-memory polymers, there is still a need to publish papers associated with shape memory polyurethane nanocomposites. Despite several recent review papers related to the shape memory polyurethane nanocomposites, a specific review on the shape memory polyurethane nanocomposites that can cover the most important nanofillers used to prepare them is still lacking. This review paper not only classifies the reported studies related to the shape memory polyurethane nanocomposites either alone or with other polymers based on their nanofillers, but also has tried to find a connection between their actuation technique, nanofillers, and their applications. Highlights * Recent developments in shape memory polyurethane nanocomposites were epitomized. * Reported studies were classified based on the most important used nanofillers. * A connection between the used nanofillers and applications was conceptualized.
