Abstract
Efficiency of multistage marker-assisted selection (MAS) is discussed as it relates to improvement of multiple quantitative traits and evaluated vs conventional phenotypic selection and marker-only selection in multistage selection for improvement of multiple traits. For MAS to be more effective it must decrease further the cost associated with molecular marker assays.
