Abstract
A cDNA for Drosophila poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) was isolated. Comparison of the sequence of this Drosophila PARP with those of the transcriptional factors and PARP sequences from other species indicated the presence of a leucine zipper in mammalian and chicken PARPs in the auto-modification domain. This motif might be responsible for protein-protein interaction between PARP and physiological acceptors.
