Abstract
This article examines family involvement in the treatment of substance abusers. The authors, maintaining past research has indicated that relatives and friends cannot influence the behavior of a substance user, argues that empirical evidence supports the notion that family does have influence over their treatment and can affect the behavior of substance users.
