Abstract
The backbone structure and dynamics of the 30 N-terminal residues of HIV-1 gp41 in membrane-mimicking environments is investigated using NMR spectroscopy and (super 15)N- and (super 15)N, (super 13)C, (super 2)H-labeled peptides. It is found that residues external to the micelle exhibit enhanced picosecond to nanosecond time scale dynamics and their mobility increases with distance from the micelle.
