Abstract
Hypoxia induces functional human umbilical vein endothelial cell complement receptor type 1 (HUVEC CR1) expression and also increases CR1 messenger RNA (mRNA) transcript levels. This was gleaned from results of an investigation of whether hypoxia or inflammatory mediators induce CR1 expression on HUVECs. Results revealed CR1 mRNA and protein induction in human endothelial cells following hypoxic stress or tumor necrosis factor-alpha stimulation.
