Abstract
A comparative study of the effects of bradykinin (BK) and other vasoactive drugs on rat mesangial cells shows that BK causes constriction of the mesangial cells. The constriction does not depend on extracellular calcium levels but is sensitive to protein kinase C and neomycin. Combined addition of mepacrine and neomycin completely suppresses cell constriction. The functional pattern of BK indicates that cell constriction occurs through B2-kinin receptor.
