Abstract
Monocarbon cage-insertions for polyhedral borons substrates and isonitriles are characterized by endo-substitution through derivatives of ligand substitutions. Cluster borane anions react with cyanide anions and isonitriles by monocarbon insertion. Tricarbaboranes are formed by the reaction of 10-vertex nido dicarborane compounds. The unsubstituted tricarbaboranes are formed by the reactions of cyanide and isonitrile. The cluster insertion processes are initiated by endo-attack by the negative insertion carbon at the positively charged C(6) anion site.
