Abstract
Digital video analysis can be valuable for student in collaborative introductory mechanics projects. The students in one course have said they learned more about mechanics from projects of this sort than from other activities. The projects proved to be educational, motivating and cost-effective. Each group must use word processing, an equation editor, spreadsheet software and a drawing package. Students use computer-based video analysis and a few frames from such video materials as NASA launches, sports events, cartoons and movie stunts, and dance performances. Some students film each other or the football team.
