Abstract
The facile reaction for the substitution of an ethylene ligand of the complexes TP'Ir(C(sub2)H(sub4))(sub2) by soft donors such as tertiary phosphines or carbon monoxides, provides corresponding Tp'Ir adducts. Their formulation is supported as five-coordinate, 18-electron species having a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry, which is confirmed by x-ray studies.
