Abstract
PCR technology is used to develop a technique permitting quick and precise determination of various subgroups inside the insecticidal crystal CryI protein producing family of Bacillus thuringiensis strains. The subgroups of CryI protein related to toxicity to several lepidopteran insects can be quickly identified using this technique. Some 13 extremely homologous primers specific to sites in genes encoding 7 distinct subgroups of B. thuringiensis CryI proteins were identified.
