Abstract
NMR spectroscopic evidence has shown that the pore shape of zeolite catalysts have strongly affected the transition states of ethylbenzene disproportionation and has resulted in different reaction mechanisms. A bimolecular reaction mechanism of ethylbenzene disproportionation is shown on large-pore zeolites and a monomolecular reaction pathway on medium-pore zeolites via the ethoxy-mediated intermolecular ethyl group transfer.
