Abstract
The bioxalomycins alpha1, alpha2, beta1 and beta2, derived from a fermentation broth of Streptomyces viridostaticus, exhibit potent antimicrobial and antitumor activity. Structural analysis shows the origin of these species from bioxalomycins rather than naphthyridinomycin. Bioxalomycin beta2 has an identical structure to that of natural naphthyridinomycin. FABMS helps determine molecular weights while various spectroscopies help structural characterization.
