Abstract
Several genes in the lacticin operon of Lactobacilus lactis are cloned and sequenced. These genes are the lctF, lctE and lctG, all of which are located downstream of lctT. Expression studies of these genes reveal that they code for proteins that belong to the ABC transporter family. These gene products confer lacticin 481 immunity to the bacteria. The gene clusters is compared with other clusters of bacteriocin genes from other lantibiotic subgroups.
