Abstract
Use of thiacyclophane ligands L(0), L(1) and L(3), where 0, 1 and 3 stand for number of ether oxygen atoms, helps synthesize organopalladium crown ether complexes. X-ray and NMR experiments help characterize the structures of these complexes. These complexes function as metalloreceptors and selectively bind o-aminopyridine derivatives through simultaneous first- and second-sphere coordination. This coordination occurs by sigma donation to a transition metal and hydrogen bonding with peripheral ether oxygen atoms on the ligand.
