Abstract
A study was conducted to assess whether chlorhexidine gluconate-impregnated sponges (CHGIS) and less frequent dressing changes were useful in the prevention of catheter-related infections among critically ill adults. Results indicated that the use of CHGIS dressings with intravascular catheters was effective in reducing such infections, and also reducing the number of dressings was safer.
