Abstract
The promoter of a new Dictyostelium spore coat gene is distinct from other coat protein gene promoters as it is devoid of CA-type elements which are essential for the regulation of these genes. Five G-rich domains and two short CA boxes are present in the promoter. A protein which is a new constituent of the spore coat is encoded by the cAMP-inducible prespore gene, PL3.
