Considering previously reported discrepant results in the literature, we aimed to investigate the impact of gender and overweight/obesity on cardiometabolic risk (CMR) among Montenegrin urban children. The cross-sectional study included random sample of 201 schoolchildren aged 7-12 years (64% of boys) from Podgorica. Children's nutritional status was determined according to the International Obesity Task Force criteria. CMR was assessed using a sum of z values of the following five indicators: glucose, total cholesterol, inverted value of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and hypertension.
