Abstract
Whole cell patch-clamp techniques were utilized to examine changes in the ventricular action potential configuration of rats during monocrotaline (MCT)-induced right ventricular (RV) hypertrophy. Myocardial hypertrophy secondary to pressure overload induced complex stage-dependent changes in the ionic currents of ventricular cells from rat with MCT-induced hypertrophy. The stage-dependent changes in the macroscopic membrane currents of hypertrophied ventricular cells were also induced by RV pressure overload.
