Abstract
Because of the relevance acquired by the learning management systems in higher education, and the spread of use of the Moodle platform in many academic institutions, a scale of perceived usefulness on the use of Moodle in this context is designed. Furthermore, the study tested the psychometric validity of the scale. The aim is to provide a reliable and valid instrument to measure the students’ perception about the usefulness of Moodle. From the population of university students in Educational Sciences field, the study obtained a sample of 754 subjects. The results show that the scale evaluates the utility of the platform adequately in five dimensions: content, activities, assessment, interaction and learning. Finally, a discussion about the usefulness of the scale to evaluate the usefulness of Moodle and to implement processes to improve its use in higher education institutions is developed.
