Abstract
Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd was commissioned by Ramboll to undertake an archaeological watching brief during geotechnical site works at the Gower South development at the University of Southampton (NGR 442402 115441). This report concerns the results of the archaeological watching brief, which involved a series of monitoring visits made between 24th of November and the 8th Decemeber 2015. No significant archaeological deposits, features, artefacts or environmental remains were uncovered. The majority of observed interventions showed a consistent deposition sequence of made up ground giving way to brick earth, however, Two of the interventions showed no sign of brick earth being present, possibly suggesting some level of. No archaeological deposits were observed in any of the monitored interventions. Although this suggests an absence of archaeological resources within the study site, the observations only represent a limited view of the below ground resources.
