Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine how marriage migrants perceive the culture of filial duty in Korea in comparison to the culture of their home country. We se1ected nine Chinese marriage migrant women and had in-depth interviews with them for two months, from March, 2014 to May, 2014. The contents of the interview were an떠yzed into the following classifications, based on the three fundamental princip1es and the five moral discip1ines in human re1ations: (1) There shou1d be affection between father and son (2) Husband and wive shou1d maintain distinction and (3) E1ders first. The results of the research are as follows: First, in the case of the first princip1e, most marriage migrant women tried to do their duties toward their parents. Second, about the princip1e concerning the re1ationship of husband and wive, whi1e in China, women are cared for, Korean women were forced to have patience. Third, about the third princip1e of “Elders first," China regards family re1ationships to be important whereas Koreans also respect neighboring e1ders. These results will contribute first, in the opportunity to 100k into the actual fami1y 1ife of marriage migrant women and second, in the supp1y of data for the sake of composing a filia1 duty education program for marriage migrant women in Korea.
