Abstract
This study was conducted to find differences caregivers policies and training programs for certified caregivers between Korea and Japan. We analyzed long term care insurance law and training courses on certified caregivers for professionalism between two countries. There were different approaches to build institutions and efforts. In Korea, there were short training programs and 50+ old careworkers. Even though dealing with national examination with certified careworkers there were not any chance to promote social professionalism. In Japan, to promote professionalism they had tried to deliver intensive training courses and law revision for certified careworkers. The young generations have been evolved as certifies careworkers who had 1850h training courses in Japan. Over 50+ care workers have had many benefits but more needs of professionality in care fields in Korea. These results can help us develop professionalism among careworkers in Korea. We should develop curriculums to promote skills and to understand elderly care as professionalism. Moreover Increasing respect and recognizing the social mission of careworkers may help promoting professionalism among careworkers. Research suggest that more needs to be done to promote professionalism for careworkers and improve the perception of careworkers in society. Also, there needs to have a socialization of professionalism in careworker system.
