Abstract
Recently Korean smart phone users have surpassed the 30 million figure. Despite the fact that smart phones have made our lives much more convenient it is also exposed to various types of crimes. Therefore this study seeks to find out new types of smart phone crimes that appeared with the surge of smart phones we see these days and find out what kind of counter measurements the police are providing. New types of smart phone crimes first include attacks on mobile malignant code. This destroys or distorts phone systems and also deteriorates fusibility through speedy consumption of batteries. This type of crime also triggers monetary damages, or causes illegal acts such as system or private information leaks. Secondly there are cries that use SNS, where private information is leaked via SNS, and in some cases illegal monitoring and location tracing are carried out. Accounts are also stolen and cause much material and immaterial disadvantages to the owners. The third type are financial fraud, which include SMishing and mobile messengers like Cacao talk fishing. These are crimes that use text messages for voice fishing on smart phones. Fourth, there are problems caused by copyrights violation crimes that may take place when using various functions of smart phones, such as smart phone uses in illegal election campaigns, wi-fi services or tethering shuttles in middle·high school. The suggested police counter measures against such crimes are as follows. First of all police should cultivate smart phone crime professionals, while provide aggressive training and PR of preventive measures based on many cases of smart phone crimes they accumulated. It is also suggested that they should systematically reorganize smart phone crime related law. Next, it is suggested that the police should share cases analysis results with related businesses that have agreed to cooperate, to develop related security technology and carry out joint campaigns to establish ethical smart phone security measures, etc.
