The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the current situations regarding the field of science focusing on crimes, and to search a new term, which can encompass several areas of studies on crimes, such as police administration, criminology and criminal justice. To fulfill the main goal, the current study conducted a survey among professors in the field of criminology, criminal justice or police sciences, and collected data from departments’ curriculums, titles, textbooks, etc. Findings suggested that a majority of professors believed that the term, “criminology and criminal justice” would be most suitable name of the departments related to crimes.
