Abstract
[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the learning effectiveness of golf putting among beginners according to the provision of sensory guidance cues by analyzing the effects of auditory guidance cues based on the movement control information of skilled golfers on beginner golfers’golf putting outcomes, putting parameters, and gaze fixation. [Method] A total of 50 beginner male golfers participated in the experiment. They were randomly assigned to the auditory guidance group (AG), visual guidance group (VG), auditory guidance with gaze fixation group (AG-F), visual guidance with gaze fixation group (VG-F), and control group (CON). After the baseline measure, participants received experimental interventions in a group-assigned manner. The retention test (3m) and transfer test (4m) were conducted the day after and three days after the end of the experimental intervention, respectively. [Result] Compared with other groups, the QE period of the AG-F was relatively stable and long. Moreover, participants in the group’s accuracy, consistency, swing rhythm, and putter face angle during impact also improved. [Conclusion] The results of this study suggest that providing auditory guidance cues, along with a gaze fixation strategy, based on the movement control information of skilled golfers in golf putting exercises can be most efficient sensory guidance training method for beginner golfers.
