Abstract
Ven. Baekpa-Guengseon(白波亘璿) wrotes the Yukjodaesa-Beobbodankhyung-Yohae(六祖 大師法寶壇經要解) which analyzed the contents of Dankhyung(壇經) and threw a fresh light on it. Although Dankhyung-Yohae(壇經要解) was based on the structure of the Duggi edition which was a different edition of Dankhyung, it introduced a new features of Zen thought of the Duggi edition. On the author’s preface of Dankhyung-Yohae, Ven. Baekpa-Guengseonrecorded that he distributed the Beobbodankhyung(法寶壇經) for general practicers not only to realize the essentials of Zen thought but to reveal the superiority of it. He explained the preface of the Duggi edition, by dividing it into five passages. He said that the core thought of Dankhyung was to find and realize one’s nature of mind and to achieve the state of Enlightment, Buddha.(直指人心 見性成佛). When praticers finished their practices, as a result, they realize their true mind, they finally enlightened the world(建化門). Also, he said that the summarized preface(略序) was not the preface of Dankhyung, instead, it explained good deeds and achievements of Ven. haeneung(慧能). Ven. Baekpa-Guengseon showed several features of the Song which said the transience of the world(無相頌) in Dankhyung-Yohae. First, it transformed fifth-songs into the courses of enlightment. Second, although the expression of languages of Ven. Haeneung was conceived in plain terms, his teachings were profound and always said about the realizing of true nature mind. Third, the contents of Transience song were applicable teaching for both practicers and general peoples. This paper especially focused on the methods of realizing true nature of mind which Ven. Haenueng said on his text, Dankhyung(壇經).
