Abstract
This study explores the differences of COVID-19 Perceptions between Korea and China in a situation where COVID-19 is prevalent around the world. We conducted a survey on Korean and Chinese consumers to find out the difference. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Chinese people had higher health involvement, personal risk perception and social risk perception than Koreans. There was no difference in the perception of severity, and it was found that the Chinese were more active in their intention to take preventive behaviors related to COVID-19. Looking at the effects of COVID-19 perception variables on prevention behavioral intention, it was confirmed that health involvement, social risk perception, and seriousness perception had a positive effect on prevention behavioral intention. Breaking it down by country, Koreans showed no significant difference from the overall results, but for Chinese, only health involvement and social risk perception affected prevention behavioral intention, but not seriousness perception. These results show that the perception and behavior of COVID-19 can differ from country to country, and can be explained by cultural and social differences.
