Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the relationship between social support for and ego-resilience of Taekwondo youth trainees. To this end, questionnaires were administered to junior high and high school students who train for Taekwondo in Taekwondo gymnasiums located in Incheon and Gyeonggi-do. The questionnaire data of a total of 286 respondents were used in the final analysis, except for those which are determined to be unreliable. Frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, correlation analysis and multi-regression analysis were conducted for the data, by using SPSS 21.0. The findings are as follows: First, the correlation between social support for and ego-resilience of Taekwondo youth trainees was examined to show that emotional support had the most significantly positive correlation with positive attitudes, followed by interrelationship, and then empathy/acceptance, while evaluative supports had the most significantly positive correlation with interrelationship, followed by self-regulation ability, and then positive attitudes and empathy/acceptance. Second, emotional and evaluative support for Taekwondo youth trainees had positive effects on positive attitudes and interrelationship. Third, valuative support for Taekwondo youth trainees had positive effects on empathy/acceptance and self-regulation ability. In conclusion, it can be found that motional and evaluative support for Taekwondo youth trainees have effects on positive attitudes and interrelationship, while evaluative support for them influences empathy/acceptance and self-regulation ability.
