Retaining the ‘essence’ of essential oil: Nanoemulsions of citral and carvone reduced oil loss and enhanced antibacterial efficacy via bacterial membrane perturbation: Citral and carvone nanoemulsions were prepared using Brij-58 and Lantana camara leaf extract, as chemical and green surfactants, respectively. Stable and uniform nano droplets were obtained by carefully optimizing the oil and surfactant concentrations. Comparative studies, carried out with the respective pure oils, suggested that the prepared nanoemulsions showed enhanced antibacterial efficacy.
