Abstract
Fault monitoring of rotating rectifier in aviation brushless AC generator is a technical problem. Although various diagnosis methods have been developed, they all use the relatively complex algorithms, which increase the software and hardware complexity of generator control unit extremely. A simple and practical monitoring circuit has been designed based on harmonic armature reaction principle of AC exciter, which can easily monitor the fault of excitation circuit in AC exciter and the fault of rotating rectifier. The effectiveness of the monitoring circuit has been proved by theoretical analysis and simulation results, and the monitoring circuit has been used successfully in the generator control unit for an aircraft.
