Abstract
Free space optics system practically needs to adjust its optical axis of a pair of communication devices in the initial installation. The authors have constructed a prototype of free space optics device that transmits thin-diameter 1550 nm laser beam at 1 Gbps. This paper proposes the method of searching for the optimal alignment by scanning laser beam discharged from the transmitter. It also demonstrates the search process using the prototype free space optics devices to disclose the effectiveness of our proposed automatic optical alignment search method.
