Abstract
The security and performance of blockchain systems can be undermined by resource-constrained nodes that elect to conserve power and communication resources by withholding the broadcast of blocks. To incentivize block forwarding and propagation, we introduce an accelerated gossip protocol that leverages a tamper-proof ledger to record the block routing path. Our solution employs a novel construct referred to as the signature chain and implements reward distribution via integrating with mining, accompanied by a Sybil-resistance reward policy. Our simulations demonstrate that the proposed protocol can mitigate blockchain forking rates and enhance scalability through expedited block propagation in the presence of selfish nodes.
