Abstract
For over 30 years, CPI Canada has been designing and manufacturing extended interaction klystrons (EIK). In this time, the state of the art has been advanced significantly, to the point where the Ka-band EIK has been chosen for the uplink amplifiers for several systems. Since it's introduction, several development programs have enhanced the performance and therefore the value of this product. These development programs have increased efficiency, bandwidth and output power, and have introduced conduction cooling and enhanced depressed collectors to the product line. Current programs are underway which target improvements in efficiency and the provision of field-tuning capability
