Abstract
With the rapid growth of the quantity of vehicle, the mesuring of traffic flow is becoming more and more urgent and realistic. At present, acquiring traffic information depends mainly on road loop detector, but this method takes high cost and can only collect information within a small area. This paper puts forward a prototype of traffic flow mesuring based on intervehicle communication. In this system, every moving vehicle which is equipped with wireless communication module is also a moving sensor, it can collect various traffic information and transmit along the vehicle flow to the base station in real time. Such information can help the base station to measure the traffic flow on road. This paper presents a method of traffic flow mesuring based on vehicle distance in the prototype system and also establishes a simulation platform based on car-following model to confirm the effectiveness of the mesuring method.
