Abstract
The current paper presents an FPGA based artificial neural network (ANN) for character recognition. Implementation of the neural network in programmable logic brings a fast speed for character recognition that is difficult to be achieved with standard processor or DSP. The operation of the neural network is verified and tested using an FPGA device.
