Abstract
Systems engineering (SE) combined with Strategic Management must play crucial roles in planning of producing valued products in Armored Vehicle Manufacturers (AVMs) in the developing countries, UAE and Saudi Arabia in particular. However, owners of those AVMs have been reluctant to use such managerial disciplines and entirely have rested on their entrepreneur's characteristics to manage their small to medium enterprises (SMEs), yet they have succeeded in their business. However, during the recession time the entrepreneur thinking is not sufficient and must be enforced by using appropriate tools of System Engineering, especially Strategic Management. This will certainly lead to ensure producing higher quality of armored vehicles and improve customer satisfaction. The main objective of this paper is to discuss the current practices of the AVMs as SMEs in the developing countries with respect to the Strategic Management. Secondly, the value of the System Engineering as an approach for Strategic thinking will be demonstrated. Finally, recommendations regarding specific ways to enable the SME's to implement the utilization of these tools and the potential benefits of that will be discussed.
