Abstract
In the view of state level distribution system, it is very tedious to locate the fault in the distribution system by the crew. In rainy season, it increases the difficulties for the crew to detect the fault. In this paper, a GSM based fault identification and location scheme is used to enhance the system by exactly identifying the exact location of fault in the distribution system. Also the proposed system takes a very short period of time to rectify the faults and protect the transformer and other equipment from damage. In addition, the proposed system concentrates on the part of the power line that links the transformer with the consumers. The occurrence of the fault directly destructs the consumers so it must be identified and cleared at the earlier stage itself. It can be achieved by locating independent units on different parts of the transmission line which contains the instrument transformers for measuring the current and voltage quantity. By measuring the current and voltage parameters, the device will check for the occurrence of the fault in the line. Based on the quantities, the fault data is provided to the control room. Also by implementing the concept, time needed to identify a fault is completely suppressed, so as the fault information will be accurately provided by the system.
