Abstract
The higher education system is an important component of a country’s efforts to provide its citizens with further education beyond primary and secondary education. The evaluation of the health status of higher education system depends on whether there is a reasonable and scientific evaluation system of higher education, and the correct evaluation index of higher education is the foundation of establishing the correct evaluation system of higher education. Therefore, this paper selects higher education foundation, higher education investment and higher education output as the first-level indicators. higher education enrollment rate, ratio of teachers and students, ratio of postgraduates, poverty and education quantification, proportion of international students, education funds, scientific research expenditure, education in economic expenditure, and total number of applications for authorization as secondary indicators. Through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the influence indicators are quantified in different levels to determine the weight of each indicator, and the health status of higher education system is evaluated according to the weight of each indicator. Then we apply the overall point gain (OPG) to calculate the total point gain value according to the weight of each index, so as to obtain the higher education health model. In this paper, India’s overall score is the lowest based on overall point gain, so some measures are proposed for India’s higher education system.
