Abstract
Combined cavities containing waveguide and open parts find a use in submillimetre (SMM) optically pumped lasers (OPL). We examined new methods of transverse modes selection in a resonator based on circular metal waveguide with homogeneous mirrors. However, it is possible to implement a potentially broad band of working wavelengths of SMM OPL only by the use of a wide band coupler in the cavity. Transverse modes of wide-band combined cavity SMM OPL with holes in mirrors are explored both theoretically and experimentally.
