Abstract
This paper is focused on a numerical investigation of dynamic stall on a NACA 0012 and S809 airfoils. The study purpose consists of fluid flow modelling around an oscillating airfoil to analyze the dynamic stall phenomenon. Simulations are carried out using an open source CFD code (openFoam); the numerical model is based on solving the unsteady Navier Stokes equations on a dynamic mesh, where the SST $k-\omega $ turbulent model is used. Results present a good agreement comparing to published experimental data.
