Abstract
This paper presents the implementation of harmonic mitigation using the Conservative Power Theory in a wind energy plant with a Doubly-fed induction generator, employing ancillary services to the utility grid. The comparison of two control strategies of Grid Side Converter, using the dq reference frame and the αß reference frame, is realized considering some operation points of the converter. Simulations in MatLab/Simulink are used for performance evaluation of the CPT and the control strategies. The wind energy plant with the control strategy using αß reference frame exhibits better performance than that using dq reference frame. The total harmonic distortion of the current through the Point of Common Coupling is lower than 5 %. The active power supply by the generator increases the distortion of the current.
